About Dr Michael Djan

Dr Michael Djan graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand medical school (MB BCh) in 2003 and thereafter embarked on an internship at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. During his community service year in East London, he discovered his burgeoning passion for ophthalmic surgery and continued to develop this, garnering a Diploma in Ophthalmology in the process.

His strong desire to specialise in this field came to fruition during his residency at Tygerberg Hospital. His skills were continually nurtured until he was awarded the Fellowship of the College of Ophthalmology and a Master of Medicine degree from Stellenbosch University.

His keenness to stay abreast with new developments in the science of ophthalmology has additionally earned him a Master of Surgery degree from the University of Edinburgh. He is also a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmology of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology.

Dr Djan is presently an Ophthalmic surgeon based in Cape Town with special interests in Cataract surgery, Glaucoma surgery, Pterygium surgery, Medical retina, Diabetes, minor Oculoplastics, Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Paediatric and adult strabismus/squints as well as various other disciplines.
